Blue Bonnet Time in Texas

These Blue Bonnets were on hwy 77 going to Waco
The red I do not know at this time? Even on the Interstate 35 and out in the fields you could see them .
This is the latest we have ever came back and only seen a few further south before. We left a few days early Due to Viola's Aunt Violet's death which I always kidded that she was my wife due to her name being place on our Marriage License instead of Viola's by Rev. Chambers.
Don't worry kids at the Court House Mom's name is on record there! So you are Legitimate!!!

Day at Corpus Christi, Texas

Texas State Aquarium
Was interesting and real good, lots of exhibits were hands on for kids! Wish our grand-kids could have been here! Know Gayla wishes they could have been here also. LOL
By the way the girl did catch the foot ball the dolphin threw it!
The room at bottom of pool, kids got real kick out the dolphins

The Sting Ray, they had a pool the kids could lean over and touch them! I wouldn't care for that some one might get a lobotomy leaning over.

The USS Lexington

Across from the Aquarium we were going to go through it and there was such a crowd will wait till next year. when we have another full day.
Ahh, would I love to take this to the range?

I'm Getting too OLD for This?

Port Isabel Light House
I just wanted to take some pictures from the Top!
3/4 the way up glad they have a platform to stop and let people come down! Not enough room for 2 after this! Plus you will not look like a wimp if you are waiting for some one to come down. Was I lucky there were 5 coming down. I was wondering how they would get me down if I did not make it?
If you enlarge this picture you will see there is only enough room for my foot side ways. Going back down I went backwards.
Now the fun begins wood ladder with metal rails to hold on to at the side of it. Can not believe they did not have a width size warning at the bottom before you entered the light house ?

OK so they have one more to the light and glass top. To hot in there so I just went out side to the railing where I took a few pictures.
Pirate's Landing - pirate ship is setting sail to go under the causeway for a bay cruise.
This is a 2 mile causeway from Port Isabel to Padre Island, that you see in the distance.
They call it the Shaving Brush Tree

This is the Bloom and the pod looks like a peeled Banana Skin!
No one here knew the real name of it.

An 87 year old man that had lived at this trailer here in the park had planted it, the top half of the tree is gone due to Hurricane Dolly

Wendnesday is Jam Day

No no not Jam for toast!

Wednesday at 1:00 pm is the day Jammers here at Eastgate and some other RV Parks get together to play. We had been having any where from 20 to 25 but some are heading home or else where. There were 17 to day and they do a good job, one that is gone even plays the organ and another the key board but there was another that did out standing job on the key board. Only one more Wednesday and almost every one will be thinking of wrapping up and heading back home to the cold country!

Nice week end Saturday and Sunday

Sunday back to Atascosa Refuge
Yucca's in full bloom and some past, but the best we had seen there.

By chance this may be as close as I will ever get to that Caracara Bird but he would be setting on one Yucca that was drying up.
Long Billed Curlew
Jackson Street Market Days
Murals on Side of Business
Back Side of Business facing parking lots
Once a Month 4 to 5 Blocks of Jackson Street blocked off for vendors- any thing from antiques to flowers, B B Q food and bakery goods for sale.
Viola getting ready to run amuck amongst the vendors.
While I hang out on the corner across from the Band. Bring a chair for you'll be here for a while.
Not a fancy dressed band, but they play at clubs and roadhouses, and good music.
You now know where the rocks come from at our house (these are hauled up from Mexico)
Thank goodness we can not get the Van close so Viola has to pick what we can carry.

Day at Padre Island

Need to go to "We have Geico" entry also. Be sure to eat at Padre Island Brewery the ribs are excellent, the best beer we liked was The Padre Blond Ale with a slice of lemon in it
Noticed they did pump up with air before going to the water!
The Red Flag was up.
Red flag on top stay out of water possible under tows also doesn't stop these people and go out quite far.
These are the dunes did not go much farther.
Turned around where car is, hwy 100 ends up ahead past where they are working do not know how much further and not wanting to get in to much sand with it blowing real fine and would sift in to every thing.

Late day at Laguna Atascosa Refuge

Padre across Bay with Yucca on the right, Bay is nice and blue this day wind is not too strong, if it is churning up the water it is brown with sand.
Had to get a couple of Mallards flying across the marsh.

Here it is 6:25 they are too close the Refuge Gate at 7 pm and a couple of miles to go at 25 mph or less and one way out do not know if gate will open to let you out or if one has to stay all night? Time of night you might get to see a Bob Cat, Ocelot or larger Cat if you are lucky. By the way we did make it out and saw something about 100 yards from the gate moving in the shadows could not tell what it was (probably a coyote)
would love to think it was a cat!
By the way this loop is 15 Miles and there are other areas.
