Omaha Zoo the Jungle Area

The First outing of the Safari and I'm Distracted by having my picture taken and miss the first Chic!

Well the Kids are already getting tired of posing for pictures? Gayla only took 119 due to clearing her camera card!

These Fish? Are big 6 or more feet? Did not get to see what they are called and If I would remember?

Black squirrel have seen in Red Feather, Co. but they had bigger ears.

Lunch time!

The Pizzas were not much larger than the diameters of soft drinks so they topped off with popcorn

Aysha, Gayla and Ce Ce on Skyride across Zoo while we went in to Butterfly exhibit.

We were rest-ting up above at the Cat exhibit while Gayla, Ce Ce and Aysha went down to the front bear area. And this Brown Bear was a Ham. he waved to the people in front of him and Stood up begging for food which some one did throw.




We did see Cats, Elephants and more but to many to put in. This last picture taken at Zoo is after coming out of the Desert Lands Dome and the Food and Drink areas were closed. so we had a day of it and I could not have walk much farther, even with the stops we took. The Kids

slept 2 hrs on the way home.

Will make another trip some time but we did not miss to much, We all even got a train ride in.

Take a good look at this it is a Horror Story - I sat in that Chair (closest thing to a torture chair) many a time to the grinding of that old Drill and the picking of those other tools!

I can say I do not remember one good thing about it!

Border Raiders at our Church

79 Border Raiders stopped and signed in and took a break a few more may not have signed in. There were 135 riders temp and heat index was high at noon was 91 and index around 100! The oldest was 74 a couple of 72s the rest was a little younger and you have to give them credit they were to make 70 miles this day. By the end of their tour will have traveled 500 miles this week and we have had high heat indexes all week.

They were from 24 States - Washington, California , Illinois, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, etc..

Started arriving at 7:00 am and last 2 pictures is of couple on 2 seat bike that were not going to stop we were told, but as I was picking last sign up one mile away after closing. Seen them coming down the road and they had been with out water for 45 minutes. Needles to say went back to church and open up and got them cold water a snack and a break.

Dandelions

The Biggest and most perfect

They were 2 to 2 1/2 inch Parachute Balls. I looked Dandelions up on Wikipedia and you would not believe all the vitamins they have, when they are eaten. Plus they brought back memories of a relatives making Dandelion Wine (which I always wanted a taste and to this day have never tasted any Dandelion Wine) So should we be putting dangerous chemicals on them, or should we really be harvesting them?

No I did not enlarge the dandelions and No this is not the relative that made the wine.
But I did re size my Cousin and wife on his 80 th Birthday yesterday to put in picture!

You have been missed

Kristi had been gone for a few days and missed so there was a big Slurpee kiss when she got home!

2009 Springfield Special Olympics State Games

Starting of the Athletes entrance parade.

Ce Ce doing what most did wave to crowd from parading group. I was impressed the way all performed at their sport of running, wish we had watched some of the other games also.

The opening night helicopters (2) had fly over as Mercede and Gayla look on while Viola closed eyes. Later she said they looked like mosquitoes<> must been afraid that one would get in her eye?

They all are winners and out standing, we all should have their spirit!

If you ever get a chance you should go to see them and next time I plan to see some of the other games!
